Digital possessions left by the deceased vividly remind us of their life memories. However, particular design solutions to properly handle and utilize them have not been provided enough. My expertise in designing for memorialization using interactive techniques is woven together through my proficiency in conducting ethnographic survey, creating a design concept, and implementing a prototype with aesthetics and technology. It also includes case studies of bereaved persons; how they encounter new artifacts for memorialization (my original research products and existing commercial ones), live with them, and hold memorial rituals. The knowledge on these research-through-design practices will provide an opportunity for researchers and designers to forecast future design directions for memorialization.
